I actually quit this book without finishing it - a true rarity! I found the characters flat and the narrative boring. I can read anything if it is well written. I couldn’t read this.

I've Found a New Favorite Author

I first read Body Check by Deirdre Martin and loved it! It is the first in this "series" so I recommend reading that book first. It introduces the reader to the characters in this book. Teresa Falconetti is an Italian girl from Brooklyn that just wants to be a big city girl with a big city life. She wants to be "better" than her Brooklyn roots and fall in love with a cultured, sophisticated guy...even if the perfect Italian from the same neighborhood is what she should have. Teresa has to struggle with her feelings for the "wrong" guy and find Mr. Right by dating a stuck-up rich guy. As you read the story you know she's making a mistake and you want to slap her into seeing what is right in front of her face. It's so frustrating, yet you know that with each turning page something good is going to happen. It's a really good story with a great ending. I recommend this book to anyone needing a good love story with some wit, humor, and a little bit of sports mixed in.

More then Fair.. read it !!

Fair Play and Body Check are full of life and romanceIn Fair Play, Both Michael and Theresa are believable, real life characters whom you just cant get enough. It's a love story of today's women.I loved having Ty and Janna still in parts of story, Please Bring all four back...Fair Play is about life, I often felt like it was my friends and I talking about men and jobs.. I think everyone should read both of Deirdre Martin's books

Fair Play? Fantastic Play!

Started reading this second book of Martin's on the bus. Other passengers must have thought me crazed with a big smile and frequent snort. Martin's characters and dialogue are so alive. Makes me want to re-read 'Body Check'.

thank you!

I have been waiting for an author like Ms. Martin to come along for some time. I loooved Body Check, and I love Fair Play more. She has wit, intelligence , and an eye for real people in real relationships. Bravo!Beatrice Williams

Thank you

I have been waiting for an author like Ms. Martin to come along for awhile. A friend gave me her first book, Body Check, and since then have passed it along to my mother, and bought two more for friends. I was happy that Fair Play is set in Brooklyn, my home town, but even happier that the author once again put her intelligence, wit and eye for realistic human relations in her work. Bravo! I await more from Ms. Martin.
