A compelling read - great suspense

Catherine Winslow has been plagued by vivid dreams throughout her life--dreams of the glamorous heiress, Nicki, a fantasy which helped Catherine cope with the tyrannical aunt who raised her.Catherine is finally able to leave the Charleston mansion which has become like a prison to her when her career as a romance novelist takes off. She soon becomes romantically involved with a local politician but breaks off their relationship just before their wedding. It isn't long afterwards that disturbing dreams of Nicki surface again.Although at first somewhat confusing, the readers soon becomes wrapped up in Nicki's life as well as Catherine's as Nicki is stalked by a serial killer. This is romantic suspense at its very best, a compelling pageturner, especially enjoyed by this reviewer who read it in on the Hawaiian island of Kauai, as part of the book is set on the Big Island. Full of long-dormant secrets, gripping suspense, and tender romance--who could ask for anything more?

Terrific story--and author

This is a very interesting story, with a most unique twist. I wasn't sure if I was going to like it at first, but was soon caught up. Marcia Martin is a terrific author. I hope that the older titles are reprinted--now you have to search used bookstores. They are excellent! I hope there are new titles to come!

Good storyline, interesting characters

As A child, Catherine Winslow was a lonely girl with a vivid imagination. During this period she dreamed up Nicki, a lookalike who lived on the beautiful island of Hawaii and was the complete opposite of Catherine, free spirited and fun. Throughout the years Catherine would keep "dream diaries" about Nicki's adventures. Now years later, Catherine has given up Nicki and has become a sucessful writer. She's dating a sucessful congressman and about to be married, everything is seems good but the dreams of Nicki reappear. This time the dreams she dreams of Nicki being stalked and a handsome protector Jack. Soon Catherine's engagement is off and slowly she begins to get her life back on track. Now a year later, after writing a sucessful suspense novel about Nicki and Jack the real Jack comes to Charleston, SC to confront Catherine about why she wrote a story about their lives. Catherine is surprised to find out that Nicki and Jack are real people and that everything was true. Determined to find out what has been happening, Catherine and Jack fly to Florida to see the real Nicki, Catherine's lookalike twin. This was a good book, but just didn't have that special something to keep me up all night. Good storyline and interesting characters.
