comic wit and crime thriller

One of the really good Foster novels, along with Moonlite, but written with less scientific information than many others and a slightly more relaxed and overtly comic posture. Like Dylan Thomas's Under Milkwood, Dog Rock is really a portrait of a typical isolated country town. Who better than an outsider, an eccentric postman to notice things and turn his skills and intelligence to solving a whodunnit?
