Excellent read; audio book superior

I would highly recommend the audiobook version of Diamondhead. The narrator, who is a master of different national accents and multiple personalities, brings a dimension and depth to this novel that is impossible in the book version alone. If you have already read Diamondhead, I strongly recommend the audiobook version. You will not be disappointed. For example, the narrator's French accent for the different characters is so good that I thought I was listening to an episode of the Pink Panther as the French authorities and villains fumble their entire game trying to keep up with Mack. The Maine accent given to Mack, his family and the shipyard owner is incredibly authentic and American. Finally, the courtroom scene is done perfectly; I thought I was listening to the audio track to A Few Good Men. Usually I find that narrators are limited in their reading of characters and accents and that they can distort or diminish the author's original work. Surprisingly, in the case of Diamondhead, the narrator elevates the author's intent, suspense, character development, and adventure. I thoroughly enjoyed this one as a genre I particularly like and which is hard to develop in a believeable plot. Robinson succeeds quite nicely, and with great humor, compassion, suspense, authenticity, and much more.

GG Review

This was typical Patrick Robinson. This was a new story that captured the reader from page 1 and I only regretted when I finished the book.

Too bad this isn't real person

An excellent book and thriller. Especially pertinent in today's world; The Seals, Berets, CIA, and all those who protect us -- God Bless Them.

Excellent Thriller!

While serving in Iraq Lt. Commander Mack Bedford(SEAL) witnesses his fellow soldiers getting killed by an illegal Diamondhead missile. When the insurgents attempt to surrender Mack guns them down. He is given a court martial and forced out of the Navy Seals. The Diamondhead missile has been banned by the U.N. The missile burns it's victims alive. Mack returns home to Dartford Maine. There at home Remson shipbuilding us facing closure. Henri Foche is the Guallist candidate for President. He wants all French goods to be manufactured in France. He is certain to be elected. Harry Remson.the owner of Remson's Shipbuilding approaches Mack about having Foche assassinated. Mack does not have luck contracting an assassination. Mack sees a picture of Foche and recognizes him as the brains behind the Diamondhead missile and decides to do the job himself. Foche is an owner of Montoellier Munitions which manufactures the Diamondhead missile. His clients include Iran,Hamas,Hezbollah, and al-Quada He is very helpful to terrorism. Mack also has a young son named Tommy who is critically ill and needs expensive surgery. With this project he can afford the life saving surgery. Mack sets out on his mission. This proved to be a very exciting book. I hope that Lt. Commander Mackenzie Bedford will be a new character. I certainly enjoyed him.

Brand New Series - Brilliant character-driven thriller with a love story!

This is a brand new series from Patrick Robinson. It has no politics. Just a fast-paced story of a damaged Navy SEAL reeling from a dishonorable discharge who is caught in plot that will either save his hometown and his dying little boy, or destroy his entire world. In my opinion, this is a brilliant new tack for Patrick. It's about character, honor, bravery, and love. There is a great love story weaved throughout this modern day narrative of revenge at the highest level. Highly recommended! Did you know Patrick can also be found on twitter now? He's "specwarcom".
