Used as class textbook - very helpful1!

Very useful textbook, students in my class enjoyed this as a helpful guide to support class lectures.

A great buy

An excellent book. I would say it is a must for anyone involved in clinical research. Useful both for experts and beginners.

Better than previous edition

I am a declared fan of this book. I teach on how to do research to med students and this book is very straight forward and practical. I believe that this book is a must for physicians that want to do research and have no time to learn everything. It is designed for everyone to pose their research question, select the design (which I believe is the right way to do research)(first 6 chapters) and then read the chapters about the selected design. It has additional chapters about searching funds(seldom included in research books) and ethical issues. My favorite chapters are the first two for beginners with no research experience (research question), the fifth (hypothesis) and the sixth (sample size), and the questionnaire chapter. The questionnaire chapter is a masterpiece, it teaches about difficult subjects in a practical and very easy way for physicians to understand. I have let away most of my books about questionnaires aside with this chapter (for physicians, for research specialties you might go to other books). And in this new edition the data management chapter has included the use of software for data analysis. I hope the Spanish version of this 3rd edition will be available soon.

THIS IS A MUST HAVE

This is an amazing textbook that is a must have for all healthcare workers or anyone involved or wanting to be involved in clinical research. The test is organized and extremely well written. I use it to teach clinical research design to my students, residents, and fellows. Hats off to Hulley et al on a job well done. It was worth the 13 year wait for the 2nd edition.

Research design: A superb guide

This is one of the best books I have read on how to design a research project. It starts with key, but often neglected, issues such as how to choose a well-focussed research question and steps through all the elements of study design, data collection, quality assurance, and basic grant-writing.A "must-have" that needs a second edition!
