An extraordinary page-turner

M.L. Malcolm has delivered another wonderful and highly literate treat. In combination with its predecessor ("Silent Lies"), "Deceptive Intentions" is an epic, gripping saga. It combines masterful writing and rich descriptions with a pace that is truly adrenaline-generating. One of the author's most remarkable accomplishments is the portrayal of genuine humanity in her characters. The book's sweeping historical settings also are compelling. You can't help but to be caught up in the action of this book. With beach season in full swing, here is an excellent way to escape for a few fun hours.

Deceptive Intentions has it all.....a wonderful book

Enjoyed every page of Deceptive Intentions. A touching and adventerous story so well written as to not to want it to end. But what an exciting and fulfilling cimax of a two book series. What ever Mary Lee Malcolm is up to next...I want to read it. She is a gifted writer.

Deceptive Intentions is Grippingly Poignant

Deceptive Intentions is a wonderful follow-up to Silent Lies, one of the best books I've ever read. Like the prequel, Deceptive Intentions is a great mix between an adventure novel and an emotionally gripping family saga. I can't recommend this book highly enough.

MUST READ!!!

"Deceptive Intentions" is a worthy sequel to its page-turning predecessor "Silent Lies." It picks up the story of Leo Hoffman and his family at the beginning of World War II. Because of his language skills and James Bond-like charisma, Leo is recruited to work as a spy in North Africa where the Allies are desperately trying to find a way to break the Nazi's hold on Europe. Leo's only real interest in his mission is to earn his American citizenship so that he can be reunited with his long-lost daughter Madeleine, but this will not prove easy to do. Malcolm tells the tale so vividly that it seems as though you are watching a movie in your mind and remaining on the edge of your seat the whole time. The story moves seamlessly from Leo's adventures as a reluctant but talented spy to the traumatic story of Maddy's attempts to create a life for herself in America while coping, sometimes not so well, with the trauma and unintended consequences that occur when family secrets are finally revealed. Malcolm is a wonderful storyteller in every sense of the word. The plot is quick-paced, the dialogue is engrossing and entertaining, and her descriptions transport you to the times and places about which she writes (and with great historical accuracy). This book succeeds on every level. I cannot recommend it highly enough.

A top notch sequel!

I am a huge fan of the historical novel genre. M.L. Malcolm's debut novel, Silent Lies, was an incredible story set in a fascinating time of history. Her sequel demonstrates that M.L. is no one-hit wonder. Deceptive Intentions picks up where Silent Lies left off and continues on with the lives of the characters we had grown to care so much about. The prose is brilliant and the story is one that will stick with you long after you put the book down. All I can say is that I cannot wait to see where M.L. will take us in her next book.
