Wonderful book for book reports!

I have read several books about Juliette Low, founder of the Girl Scouts. My daughter, who at the time was a Junior Girl Scout in 4th grade, chose Juliette Low as the subject for her school boigraphy assignment. I was SO lucky to find this book for her to read! It is very interesting, written for the older child - not babyish like some other books are. It is long enough to qualify as an acceptable book to use for a report - approximately 100 pages. It tells about Daisy's entire life, not just about when she formed the Girl Scouts. Although it can be confusing trying to keep track of all the names of Daisy's relatives, it's a terrific book for children 3rd grade and up (but I enjoyed reading it, too!)

This was a really good book

I read this book for my biography book report because I am a Brownie. It was very interesting to read about Juliette Low's life.

I will name my next daughter for Daisy

I got into this book thinking, "What EVER." I was put on bed rest while gestating right after I had signed up to be a leader for GSUSA. My co-leader gave me a copy to read while literally sitting out the next three months until I had my son. I was suprised that I liked it so much! Juliette Gordon Lowe was hearing impared, and even though she lived at a time when handicaps were a real impairment, she used her lack of hearing to an advantage! She also dealt with courage her husband's alcoholic problems and, and showed herself to be a truely driven person. She was not ahead of her time-- she was a woman of her time, as women were just getting used to Queen Victoria's stifling influence being over with, and she was there to teach the new generation of girls what living was all about. I found myself not wanting to put the book down and I would tell my daughters stories of what I read for months after I read this!
