EVerything My Mother Never Taught Me

I found this book to be very helpful. My mother DIDN'T teach me much about food & cooking, so I needed some of the more basic information such as what to do with different cuts of meat, what seasonings go well where, and info about repairing 'broken foods'. I liked her style, for the most part. Her opinions do come through, though. One example of this occurs where she discusses how to cook fish (poached, broiled, etc). Next to the word Blackened, she just says Don't Do This To Fish. Um, some people like that, right? Overall, I think this is a great book for beginning cooks who don't know what to do in their kitchen. It is not for people who have been cooking for years. While they could probably learn a thing or two, most of the information would be redundant for them.
