Great story.I went looking for another of his books after 9/11 and the recent anthrax attacks. Hope to see another soon.

Code Name: Antidote

I think this book is a good read. It kept my attention to the last page. The brief discussions between Catherine Evans and David Egan on metaphysics are worth the price of the book alone. Of course, the metaphysical and determinism do not fit very well with the pure action-adventure of this book. However, the author uses this device to bring the main characters more to life for me. Leo Tolstoy in "War and Peace" devoted page after page and even chapters to determinism, and most readers love him for it. So I agree with a small dose of it from Mr. McHenry. Did I identify with Evans or Egan? No, but neither have I ever identified with James Bond and his love interests. I noticed that the hero in this story was usually upstaged on land by the evil Severny. Cdr Egan seemed to be at his best when he was at his command console aboard the USS PETERSON. Now that is a modern person for you! (images of young people at their command posts for their latest video game) As for Catherine Evans, she might have contributed more to Egan's exposure of his discoveries in life. But she was a professional at the top of her field. She had to show good judgment by restraining her tongue in the relationship. How much have we gotten to know today's female astronauts? Hardly, and that's a bit sad. But they are also top rung professionals, not known for their quirkiness. So Catherine Evans is very much a modern woman. Readers, if you get put-off by the complications of the beginning of the book, skip to page 10 and start there. Then enjoy!

Written with style and flair.

Captain David Egan, United States Navy, is a man of many talents. He has served with the Navy SEALS and is now the Commanding Officer of the USS Peterson. Suddenly, without any warning or explanation, he is called away from his task group to join with the USS Kennedy's task group. After attending a meeting aboard the Kennedy, he finally finds out the reason for his transfer. Unknown to the world, a new biological weapon has been developed and is now in the wrong hands. David has been chosen to lead the covert team to recover it, before it can be used with disastrous results. Dr. Catherine F. Evans, an expert in the biological field, has been loaned to the CIA from the Center for Disease Control in Atlanta where she works. Her job is clear, containment of the biological substance once it is recovered. But what she is not prepared for is the events that take place and unfold while trying to recover the substance. She isn't trained to deal with living undercover and the threat of being killed at any possible second. She also isn't prepared to deal with Captain Egan. Together David and Catherine must find and contain the biological substance. Not only are they racing against time, but they are also racing against the Russian Intelligence and the ex-KGB agents that are the masterminds behind the biological substance and threat. At every turn, David's leads are cut off. The ex-KGB always seem to be at least one step ahead of him. His men are being killed at every turn and his plans are being put out of commission before they even get going. How are the targets getting this information? Is there a leak in the team? Suddenly, everything starts to fall into place, but with it comes a price tag that David isn't sure he is willing to pay. Code Name: Antidote is a fantastic book that takes you into the world of undercover and danger. Mr. McHenry has used his prior naval knowledge along with excellent research and written a book that a person can lose himself or herself in. He pulls you into the book and the action as he unfolds it one piece at a time. Just when you think things are finally going to go right, something else goes wrong. For those that love Tom Clancy and Robert Ludlum, you'll love this book as it is written with the same style and flair. I definitely look forward to reading more books by this author.Tracy Eastgate, Reviewer

Excellent

This is a book I would be willing to buy another copy and donate to the library. McHenry holds your attention from the first chapter to the very last page.

Big Screen Material

McHenry's ANTIDOTE has the page turning effect of Grisham and the descriptive captures of Clancy. This is sure to be a screenplay one day. A must read.
