What is going on here?

I adore Kellerman's Dr. Alex, Lieutenant Milo, Blanche, Robin, Rick, the whole gang. WHAT IS GOING ON IN "City of the Dead?!" I'm 80 pages in, and here's what I've found: stilted dialog ... dull, humorless characters ... a dry, boring recitation of story points. Here's what I haven't found: comradery ... refrigerator raids ... goofball dog love. I've read many Jonathan Kellerman "Alex Delaware" books, and this ain't one. I don't believe JK wrote this one, and I don't believe I'll read any more of it. "City of the Dead," indeed.
