Blech

D.j. Conway and these insipid pop paperbacks are frankly what made me run screaming from Wicca. There is no depth here. You'd be better off reading the Mabinogian if you want to learn about the Celts. A book whose cover is a painting of a Victoria Secrets model in "Celtic" garb is a very poor substitute. Get out in the world, read other books. Study Druidry and the Celts. This is a centimeter deep.

A great book!

As the title states, this book is solely devoted to the Celts and the magicks. A lot of reviews have said 'this is not how the Celts lived', but that's not what Conway is trying to say. She is encorporating the traditions, beliefs, and lifestyles of the Celts into magick, which is perfect for Wiccans who are interested in following a Celtic path or want to keep in touch with their Celtic heritage.I loved how Conway was able to meld these two worlds together and pack such a small book with so much depth and knowledge. I enjoyed the Celtic designs throughout the book and the images showing how to set up the altar and cast your circle, as well as the images of some of the ritual tools. The back of the book has a great list of correspondences for Celtic deities, incense, candles, elements, herbs, and stones/crystals. This book also includes: the history, traditions, religion and clothing of the Celts and its connection to the magicks, preparing for magick, info for casting the circle with a ritual, tools used in rituals, a ritual for each Sabbat, myths, and a bunch of spells near the end.And something irrelevant I observed - the Celtic lady on the cover looks like Conway *lol*I think this is a great book for beginners who want to follow a Celtic Wiccan path! If you are interested in more books by Conway, I believe 'Moon Magick...' and 'Wicca: the Complete Craft' to be excellent companions, as well as 'The Celtic Dragon Tarot'. I have written in-depth reviews for all these items :)

I Use this Book Everyday

Anyone who has realized that organized religion is not for them should pick up this book by DJ Conway, Celtic Magic. It's made for everyday use, it is a wealth of information on the history of the Celts, of their gods/goddesses, of definitions, spells that anyone can do/use, tells you what tools you may need, describes the uses of different colored/scented candles, of herbs, of oils, contains rituals for each of the special days/equinoxes, etc. Hard to believe that such a small book could contain so much information. I can honestly say that this book has changed my life, it was exactly what I was looking for, I am going to buy another to keep at my desk and may start buying this book as gifts for others who seem to need it, or seem to be interested without even knowing it. This book truly fell right into my hands...

A wonderful book!

Celtic magic is a very good book, and it deserves all the stars it can get! I would reccomend it for anyone even the slightest bit interested in magic Celtic magic.

great for those who want to read about wiccan/celtic beliefs

A great book for those who wish to learn about the ancient wiccan/celtic pagan rituals and beliefs. Full of invaluable information concerning the uses of herbs and magic. Tells of the history of wiccans and the celtic druids and how their magic is intertwined with both religion and science. Contains a table of different herbs and their uses. Teaches one how to gain money; gain love; gain protection; gain prophecies; rid yourself of negatives; bind a trouble-maker; strengthen your psychic shield; promote physical, mental, and spiritual health. Also contains the ancient written language of the celtic druids. A wonderfully informative book that I would recommend to anybody who is willing to believe.

Excellent reference book on the Celtic Wicca Tradition

I gave this book 5 stars due to the fact that it is an excellent reference book for the celitc tradition of wicca. However, when it is compared to the actual spiritual beliefs of the celtic peoples as practiced by the gaelic traditionalists... I would give this book 2 stars. I personally enjoyed the book, I own it, and I do recommend it for anyone who practices celtic wicca.
