Call me Princess

The only bad thing about this book is that the main Character(Mako) falls in love with her cousin, Ryu. Other than that it is a very good book. The illustrations are wonderful, and the story(besides the above) is captivating. I couldn't put it down till I had finished reading it. It has some very funny parts in it as well.

Definitely not for those with a taste for action/adventure!

First off, let me say that this is certainly a girl's manga. The sap flows like a river, the characters all have wide-eyes and bright smiles, and the happiness/anguish is written on every character's face. But that's not a bad thing. I happen to love shojo manga. Others have detailed the plot, so I will just critique the art and story. Now, I own "Call Me Princess" and "Princess Prince", I have read "Aquarium", and I want "Let's Stay Together Forever", all of which are by Tomoko Taniguchi. The art of "Call Me Princess" didn't appeal to me as much as the art of "Princess Prince", and the storyline itself was on a par with "Aquarium". I have not seen but glimpses of "Let's Stay Together Forever", so I can't compare. This is a wonderful story and I am not sorry I bought it. So, go out and get it!

Should be a best seller!

I cannot even begin to imagine why this book isn't far more popular than it is. Charming doesn't begin to describe this tale of young, high school love, a shy girl and the beautiful boy who catches her attention. The art absolutely sparkles and is more "finished" than the art in many manga. It is adorable. Highly recommended for young girls, it will induce any reluctant reader to pick up a book and enjoy! A perfect gift! Far more appropriate for American audiences than many manga, it contains no objectionable or adult material whatsoever. Absolutely charming!

A great shoujo buy for anyone!

Tomoko Taniguchi is a wonderful shoujo manga artist. She has a great design and drawing technique, as well as the ability to truthfully tell her stories in a touching, but true to life, way. Call Me Princess is the story of a high school girl named Mako. She has always wanted someone to love her, and take care of her, and call her "princess" just like her brother in law Shin calls her sister. But so far she hasn't found anyone. But then Ryu, Shin's younger brother comes into the picture. He looks just like Shin but Mako soon learns that they are nothing alike. Where Shin is kind and polite Ryu is blunt and rude. Mako can't stand that now he will have to be living with her family and she! But, over time, Mako learns there is more to Ryu, his friends and his past, then meets the eye, and begins to develop a crush on him. But her old friend Yo won't stand for this, as he likes Mako too. Then there is Mako's friend Maki as well who has a crush on Yo! What will happen...? I guess you'll have to read the book to find out. This is a really wonderful, sweet story. There is not a whole lot of deep depth to it but it is a very true picture of high school life and the problems with guys and girls high school kids go through. (I know, I'm in HS).So go, go, buy this very sweet story!

Shoujo manga never looked better!

Tomoko Taniguchi is a master at shoujo stories. If you like romance and stories with depth and emotion give this a try!
