A Must Have for Social Studies Teachers

This strikes me as one of those books that should be in every Social Studies Teachers library. Whether or not you have access to the full curriculum, Bring Learning Alive has dozens of ideas that you can implement in your classroom. The teaching methods outlined in the book are rooted in current research, particularly Gardner's Multiple Intelligences. The first couple chapters elaborate on this theoretical justification before proceeding into a multitude of specific methods with practical examples. The last half of the book illustrates planning a complete unit using the TCI methods, as well as providing a selection of complete lessons directly from the TCI curriculum. Full-color transparencies for each of these sample lessons are included. A practical text, rooted in current research, offering dozens of ideas AND a selection of primary source documents, all at a price far more reasonable than most textbooks.
