CONVERTED A NON FICTION READER

THis book made me want to read more fiction. I'm a die hard non fiction reader, with a passionate distaste for most novels. But this page turner made me want to go out and delve into the world of make believe. A great read for a cross country flight. I read this in one sitting, on a seven hour flight, and was disappointed when we landed. I wanted to re-read the book from page one. Also recommended: Cat's Cradle.Cat's Cradle

another enjoyable mystery...

I've read every novel Kathy Reichs has written, and have enjoyed the character development most of all. The accuracy of the situations and her explanations of medical and forensic terms is finally sticking with me, so following the story is much easier. This book is once again in the deep south, which I like more than those stories that take place in Canada. This is another fine read in a whole series of fine reads.

Charleston O'Charleston

Excellent story, couldn't put the book down. Love Charleston and the low country area. I have spent as much time there as possible over the past 25 years. This book brings Charleston to life! So very descriptive and accurate in it's surroundings, you feel like you are there. I could smell the ocean air and hear the clip-clopping of horses hoofs pulling their fare about the old historic town. Highly recommend this book!

Can Anybody's Life Possibly be more Complicated than Tempe's?

Forensic pathologist Temperance "Tempe" Brennan has a group of students in her charge during an archeological field trip in South Carolina on Dewees Island when in addition to the ancient Native American bones they are studying a corpse of a more recent nature is dug up. To complicate matters there is a developer on the island who is anxious to build homes and he is none too happy when Tempe gets his project delayed because of the cultural significance of her discovery (the old bones, not the new ones). In fact he makes no bones about being upset with her and makes threats. And if that doesn't complicate matters enough there is a reporter hounding Tempe who she wants to keep at arm's, no make that a football field's distance away. So with all of the above on her plate one would think Tempe's got enough to keep her occupied, but as it turns out the local coroner is a friend of Tempe's and she's got other things on her own plate so she asks friend Tempe to handle the investigation of the recent corpse, however the local sheriff isn't too happy about that and as usual, Tempe is going to be a thorn in law enforcements shoes. But wait, there's more, Tempe's estranged legal beagle husband Pete shows up with permission to share the same abode Tempe's been staying in. He's investigating a young girl's disappearance. The girl had been part of a religious sect. But wait, there's still more to complicate Tempe's stay on beautiful Dewees Island. Her on again, off again lover, that Canadian cop extrodinaire Andrew Ryan shows up too and let's just say he's not pleased as punch to find Pete there. And to really put the frosting on this cake of complications in Tempe's life Reichs piles on more bodies. What can I say, you've just gotta read this book. Only Kathy Reichs could take such stuff and turn it into a readable, believable story that you can't put down. As usual she takes you on a forensic ride, dishing out both science and logic. And, as usual, she nails her characters, making you feel as if you know them. If you love a mystery, if you love thrillers, then boy oh boy, this is a book for you.
