I first saw the movie Bingo several years ago. It was one of the stranger films for children I had seen. However, when I discovered this novelization, I found a new appreciation for the movie. The author does more than put the actions from the screen onto the page. They give the dog thoughts, motivations, and emotions that are only hinted at in the movie. Confusing events (where did Bingo get that little tent from?) are explained with perfect plausibility. The writing is done in a gripping, lovable style; simple enough for children, but interesting enough for adults as well. 5 stars, A. L. Singer!
