Amazing new light on codependency

This is a great book. It works with the reader to break through old stigmas. I haven't drank once since I read this book (month and a half).

PMA on Steroids

Let's face it, self-help books are a dime a dozen. They come and they go, ending up on the bargain shelves of the big chains, lasting not much longer than a bug's life. Not this one. This book has staying power. It's got muscle, like PMA on steroids. For those mixing their abbreviations, that's Positive Mental Attitude. It's guaranteed to fast-track your life. Why? It's very well written for one. Chris Prentiss' style is both very compelling and entertaining. And it's not just a wish-fulfillment type book, the author draws from a wealth of experience. His very life illustrates how cosmic principles of faith, visualization, positive attitude and action can precipitate results. His story of making a full length movie is just amazing. At each major obstacle he faced you're thinking, "no way is he going to get this done." He did and it's awe inspiring. As he says, there is a Divine intent and plan for us, we just have to be the magnet and pull it down. Not all of us have the incredible will power that the author has. The good news is that he shows us how to get it with pracitical exercises spread throughout the book at a pace that will not fatigue the reader. I loved his previous books, "The Alcoholism and Addiction Cure" and "Zen and the Art of Happiness." No doubt this book will become a best seller as well. William House, Reverse Spins.com

A truly interactive instructional

It takes more than sheer will power to change a life, alter a life style, deal with life issues. It takes an understanding of the underlying principles of human behavior, the conditions necessitated to successfully dealing with obstacles to desired change, and a practical guide to what is possible with respect to personal self-improvement, self-help goals. "Be Who You Want, Have What You Want" by Chris Prentiss (co-founder and co-director of the Passages Addiction Cure Center, in Malibu, California) is just such a manual of step-by-step procedures for accomplishing significant and enduring personal changes, the attainment of goals and desires, the overcoming of negativity and emotional obstacles to success (including letting go of the past), and the instilling of daily life with peace of mind, enthusiasm for, and the joy of, oneself and the surrounding world. "Be Who You Want, Have What You Want" is a deftly written and superbly presented 288-page compendium of insightful advice and practical assistance also includes work spaces and exercises that make it a truly interactive instructional that can be confidently recommended to non-specialist general readers seeking to improve themselves and their circumstances.

How to think straight and make your life work.

Chris Prentiss has done it again! This time, however, he goes into more detail than in his excellant book 'The Zen of happiness'. This book is practical in that it includes exercises. Unlike some other books these are not a drag to complete, but rather they precise the words before and emphatically reinforce the message. Unlike some other genre of books such as 'cosmic ordering' where you make a wish, sit back and wait for your 'request'to happen, this book's message is that the Universe knows what you are thinking, but you must also put in the effort too! The author gives examples from his own life to illustrate the point. The position is made quite clear 'you create your own reality', make no mistake about it. If you believe otherwise, you will be setting yourself up for a low level of achievement throughout your life and you only have yourself to blame. I particularly like Chris's explanation on how we perceive everything around us. He dispels the myth almost all of us make that the 'the world is out there' and explains that what we see is reflected light to which we add our own perceptions gained by our experiences. This book is powerful stuff in that it will strighten out your thinking if you let it and put into practice the exercises. It is difficult to see how what is written here can be improved on now or in the future. The truth is the truth, always!

A Treasured Companion!

This is a wonderful book! It is a guidebook that describes a philosophy of life and a way of looking at the world that is both elegant and practical. This book struck a chord in me when I first stumbled across it at the public library over ten years ago. Since then, I've lost count of the number of times I've read it and listened to the cassette version. I would recommend it to anyone without hesitation. It has become a treasured companion.
