Better than imagined!!!!!! MUST READ

This story is amazing. So many twists and turns that you never seen coming. If you like books with a WOW factor you will not be let down by this one. Love bent and twisted stories :) A well thought out and well put together story. This author knows how to put the characters in your lap to the point of worrying about them and thinking about them when NOT reading it. Amazing - truly. Ive discovered that this author also writes under another pen name Jennifer Laurens and OMG!!!!! The books she writes i.e. Heavenly and A Season Of Eden are so heart felt and true "young adult" type of book. I HIGHLY recommend any of her books.

Creepy but thought provoking

A seriously edgy book that totally creeped me out at times but also made me think. Throughout the novel you will question the characters - who is genuine and who is not? You may just think you've figured it out when all of a sudden everything will change on you! It also made me grateful for what I have! I was reminded of some sort of scary ride whilst reading, at times I was squirming and at times unsure what to think. You'll be cast into uncertainty until you've finished. Even after reading I was still unsure I could trust the characters! Recommended to anyone who is up to the dare. ;) Gripping, brilliant, novel. You won't regret buying this.

Spine-tingling Thriller!

Katherine Warwick is an author who certainly has had expertise in dance-romance novels, now surprises the reading audience with her psychological, spine-tingling thriller, "An Open Vein." As a health professional for thirty years, a graduate from a psychiatric state hospital school of Nursing, and a born-and-bred New Yorker were the reasons that drew me into Warwick's cleverly written plot, immediately with overwhelming interest. The main character, John Banks is a high school graduate at age sixteen, and is accepted into pre-med. Everyone knows that John is a genius, but they don't know that he lives in a strange, confusing world. Although his IQ may be high, he lacks common sense, not to mention self-esteem. He decides to spend time in New York with Kane, a life-long friend. Kane taught John how to read people, and get into their heads, but the ultimate question that prevails is one which makes this novel a page turner. Can John read Kane? John's life becomes threatened, according to Kane, but how can we believe in Kane? The more you read about Kane, the more psychotic he becomes, and John becomes a prisoner of abuse. The reader is forced to ponder two essential questions. Why did John allow Kane to hold him hostage, like an animal in a cage? How is it possible that someone who suffers from a mental illness is usually not investigated until after the damage has been done to himself, and society? The author paints a realistic New York setting, and the plot is as superb as the psychological thriller, "Psycho." I recommend this novel to teens, adults, and all mystery lovers. "An Open Vein" is as chilling as "WHAT LIES BENEATH" with Harrison Ford, and Michelle Pfeiffer! Geraldine Ahearn, A.I.O.M. Author of 6 books

Wonderfully written

In this book Warwick out does herself. You are taken on a psycological ride that keeps you guessing through out the book. I definately recomend this book to everyone from teens up.

An Open Vein - PageFlipper Reviews

Everything starts when John gets an invitation to visit his family friend Kane in New York. Of course, most teenage boys would jump at the chance. John certainly does. But when he gets there, things start to get iffy. Kane comes home from work one day to announce that he got an anonymous note from someone. Someone wanting to hurt John. The result? Kane suggesting that John be stuck in his room 24/7, which is pretty dang hard for a teenage boy in the state of New York. But Kane doesn't stop there. I don't want to give too much of the book away, but honestly, the plot twists and suspense are insane. I can't remember ever reading a more intriguing first page than that of An Open Vein. It left me with an infinite amount of questions that I wanted answered on the spot. But, of course, I had to continue reading to find out. However, those questions didn't really get answered until the end. It kept you guessing and questioning on every single page. It was definitely an edge-of-the-seat type of book. And I loved it.
