Fun read

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK  Alicia Connected: The Big Gift by Derek Fisher is a really good book teaching children and teens alike about the safety of the internet. I think it is a clever way to tech this young age by using one of their very own. As Alicia tells the story, you child is more likely to listen than if we as parents tell this story. Fisher cuts to the chase as he not only explains but give examples of the new gadgets called tablets, phones, ipods and other gadgets I don’t know about. His warnings are firm but he also introduces them to this new way of life. We may not like it as parents, but this is a while new world for our kids. I want them to know and understand the fun things, yet be aware of the bad part of the internet as well.  If you have children old enough for a smartphone or tablet, this would be an excellent book for your child’s library. And since this is all taught in early, young classes, I believe the classrooms could benefit greatly to have this book on hand. This would make a wonderful gift for your child’s classroom. And if you are like me and don’t have small children. Buy a copy or two and donate it to the school closest to you. And oh, I almost forgot about the amazing illustrations here in this book. Heather Workman does a fabulous job creating illustrations to go perfectly well with each page in this book. I love her detail to each character, especially those adorable facial expressions. The vivid colors and well, everything expressions in the book fit perfectly well together. And a big thanks to the editor, Kim Burger for making sure this book was perfect for our reading.
