Litfin writes as a historian seeking to understand what happened to the apostles after the book of Acts ends. Writing from the perspective of a theological conservative, Litfin evaluates ancient works in order to differentiate fact from fiction in regards to the modern traditions the reader hears about the martyrs today. The book is well researched and Litfin writes in a winsome and engaging way. An excellent resource on the apostles and early martyrdom stories.
