Why buying an expensive guide if you can find it all in here

Whenever I travel I want to prepare myself by reading a bit about the country or city I'm visiting. As I didn't have the time to read big encyclopeadia's about Edinburgh, I purchased this little handy book and believe me, I was perfectly prepared! It summerizes the touristic highlights in a funny kind of 'charts' of places of interest, contains the addresses of the best accomodation; restaurants; pubs; book, souvenir, clothshops; tells you where to go with children; which festivals are going on where in which period of the year and how to book tickets for them, etc... But what makes these little guides more interesting than others, is that they also leave the touristic path to look behind the scene. The author - who has been living a considerably long time in the Scottish capital - tells the insider secrets about the habits, likes and dislikes of the town and its inhabitants, about their passions, their history and character, and she doesn't avoid the less beautiful sides. This guide also contains loads of stunningly wonderful trips to the beauty of the mountains and of the seaside, both you can find within a 15-30 minutes drive from the centre. Finally there are some pages with practical information about transport, laws, money, language, security... And the guide's stuffed with original good quality pictures, which makes that after your voyage it remains a lovely reminder of Edinburgh. I had the feeling that during my trip, I got to know the real Edinburgh, due to Sally Roy's mini maxi-guide.
