Virginia Smith is becoming a Favorite....

If you LOVE Christian romance and you like WILD animals...You'll ENJOY this book! I REALLY DID! The story is good!....Kelli Jackson is TERIFFIED of WILD animals (SPECIFICALLY LIONS!) because of something that happens in her past...But to collect her Mother's inheritance she must work at her Mother's zoo for six months, where she quickly falls for her handsome boss, Jason Andover, and struggles to conquer her fears from the past. As I said, the plot/story is good. The characters are likeable. My ONLY GRIPE! NO mention of my favorite zoo animals, Koalas Lol...All in all a good read.

Zoo Adventure at its best

Virginia has written Love Inspired Suspense books before which I have loved but this is her first for the Love Inspired range. It is a very good first book and one I didn't want to put down. Kelli has to work at the zoo for 6 months to receive her inheritance. The zoo is the last place she wants to be but the money would help with her Grandma who is starting to need more help and would help move her into assisted living. Jason is the one she will work for and ultimately decide her fate. I love the way Virgina describes the animals and their characteristics, as she describes how one of the animals is just like a big version of a small domesticated one. (don't want to give anything away here). But reading this reminded me of going to the local zoo and seeing a medium sized cat and the way it rubbed against the cage was just like my cat at home. I wanted to take it home as it was so adorable but I remember saying I would love to take you home but you would eat my cat. Also with Kelli's Grandma there were things that I could relate to having an elderly mother (who is old enough to be my grandma) and some of the things that happen in that relationship. I just loved the whole concept and I really hope to see more of these books by Virginia. Not only a great read also educational.

Sweet love story - great summer read!

Virginia Smith is one of my favorite authors, and this latest book did not disappoint. Formula love stories all seem to be the same, but Smith gives us a unique and fresh setting to make the story memorable. Her characters are likeable and realistic so it felt like I took a mini-vacation to go on their journey. Great summer read!

Zookeeper, Zookeeper's daughter and hurts that must heal

I love Love Inspired books. Usually Virginia writes fiction but she did just as excellent job here as she has with all the books she has written. If you do not read one of her books, you are missing out. They will uplift and encourage you in your faith. I already knew this author's work and as usual she performed as I would have expected. Kelli is battling fears from her past and a Mother's death that she barely knew. Her Mother leaves clauses in a trust so that Kelli will face her fears and realize she did love her even if she lived with her Grandmother. Kellis is suspicious of Jason because he is made Zookeeper and she must work for him if she is to get much of her Mother's inheritance. She fights her attraction to Jason believing he is out to just enlarge the zoo. She doesn't know Jason has made mistakes he is dealing with too. As each of them come to grips with things from the past, they are drawn closer together and Halli learns why her Mother could continue as Zookeeper when her Dad died because of it. Her Mother had faced her fears. A book you won't be able to put down. I know as I read it in two days.

Lions Roar with Love!

Love Inspired is generally not my first choice. I have a thing for dead bodies I enjoy mysteries. (Yes, I'm sick, very sick) However, when you find a good writer the genre takes a backseat. Virginia Smith is one of those authors. Once again Virginia provides you with likeable and relatable characters. First is Kelli Jackson, the daughter of a well known zoologist, Lillian Mitchell, who was raised by her paternal grandmother and works as an accountant. The late Lilly Mitchell had a passion for lions. A passion that was more important than her daughter. Then you have Jason Andover, who considered Lillian not just a mentor, but like a mother. He had his own past and problems. This is a love conquers all story, but it is more than that. If the reader has baggage from the past this book will challenge you to look at that baggage. You'll find yourself asking, "Am I stifling my life and happiness because I won't forgive that person that hurt me?" You may also ask, "Am I taking the easy way out of this situation because I don't want to fight for what is truly right?" Another thing I enjoyed about the story was learning about the zoos and how they work behind the signs. I read the book while on vacation where my son and I visited the World Famous San Diego Zoo. The story gave me a new appreciation for the work the keepers do in preparing food and caring for the animals.
