Good for Abandoment issues.

In the book the frogs lose both parents. The animals have issues with the frogs being different than their species, so they feel they can't provide adequately. Mama mouse takes them in and provides, teaching her "birth mice" some of the frogs customs. I loved this book. I used to have my own adoption store, so I have read tons of adoption books. This is not for all adopted children, but I think it is for some. I thought it was honest and would make for great discussion. I am also an adopted parent. Not all children are abandoned, but my daughter was. You can interpret this as a "rescue" issue, or you can discuss how scared the older frogs were being alone and why some animals thought it was going to be difficult vs Mama Mouse who took the frogs in and loved them and brought their culture to her home. Beautiful illustrations.
