Great Book

My daughter is 19 months old and will happily sit through the entire reading of this book without losing interest. The story is great and the pictures are hilarious. I love all of William Wegman's books but this is one of our favorites.

Hilarious!

I originally picked this book up at our local library and right there in the aisle I started flipping through it. I had seen numerous William Wegman's before and being a major dog lover, enjoyed them, but nothing prepared me for the hilarity of this book. I was streaming tears down my face from laughing. Yes, it is bizarre but it is truly original and my kids, husband and I think it is awesome.

giggling fools

A gem for dog lovers of all ages. Chip wants a dog so badly, but can't have one because his parents are cat people. Finally he realizes he doesn't need a dog--he is a dog!! All done in the William Wegman style with his doggy humor.

children love the absurd humor

Children love the absurd humor in this picture book by William Wegman. The trademark Wegman dogs, weimaraners, are photographed here in a variety of settings. Chip, one of the weimaraners, is dressed like a human. Chip believes he IS a human, and he wants a dog. Chip gazes longingly out a window at a dog, wishing he could own one. A dog would make Chip happy, or so he thinks. Chip's mother and father do not want a dog in the house, though. There are lots of humorous photographs here. The illustrations are playful, and the expressions on the dogs' faces will bring you belly laughs. Eventually, Chip realizes that he IS a dog (the truth comes to him in a dream), and that helps him resolve the conflict.I recommend this to all children, and adults with a playful sense of the absurd. ken32
