Ted Dekker Profile Picture

Mystery, thriller, and fantasy novels are the specialties of Ted Dekker, author of more than twenty New York Times bestsellers. The son of missionaries, Dekker was born in 1962 in Netherlands New Guinea (now part of Indonesia) and sent away to a multicultural school when he was six. After leaving Indonesia, Dekker graduated from high school and moved to the United States to study philosophy and religion at Evangel University in Missouri. Having secured his undergraduate degree, Dekker took on a series of corporate jobs and later became an entrepreneur. When Dekker became serious about writing, he sold his business and moved to Western Colorado where he began writing full-time. After numerous rejections, two years, and three manuscripts for novels, he successfully had his first book published. Thr3e was his first mainstream novel, and it was adapted to a film of the same name. In addition to his solo work, Dekker has co-written books with other authors, including Bill Bright, Frank Peretti, and Tosca Lee. He lives in Austin, Texas.
