Julia Pottinger, better known by the pen name Julia Quinn, is the author of 18 New York Times bestselling Regency romance novels. Born Julie Cotler in 1970, she graduated from Harvard University with a degree in art history. During her senior year at Harvard, she decided to attend medical school, and this required an additional two years for her to complete the prerequisite courses. Pottinger began writing during those two years, and completed four books before briefly attending the Yale School of Medicine. Pottinger chose to devote herself full-time to writing. She has repeatedly won the Romance Writers of America RITA Award and she is one of only fifteen authors to be inducted into the RWA Hall of Fame. She lives in the Pacific Northwest.
