This book contains some of Zane Grey's best hunting and fishing stories. Included are to name just a few: The Lord of Lackawaxen Creek, one of his first published stories; Roping Lions in the Grand Canyon which relates his first visit to the West with Buffalo Jones who introduced Zane Grey to some interesting personages who were the inspiration for his first western novels, Heritage of the Desert and The Riders of the Purple Sage; Nonnezoshe, his trip to the Rainbow Bridge; Don, the Story of a Lion Dog, one of his most famous short novels; Fishing Virgin Waters, about his first trip to the South Seas; Colorado Trails, hunting bears; and The Whale Killers of Two-fold Bay based on a true tale of fisherman in Australia. All in all there are twenty diverse and interesting true stories of his fishing and hunting around the world. And it is all there in the same fantastic description prowess as in his novels; Zane Grey makes you feel as if you are right there experiencing it yourself. And remember, when he was doing these things no one, or almost no one was doing this sort of thing. A very good and entertaining book.
