Excellent conversation starter, culturally relevant

This book is great in either language for very young through kindergarten. Goes beyond typical feelings-type books with interactive premise of "when I am {tired, scared etc}, I [take a nap etc]". This helps kids come up with their own versions of how they handle similar feelings, or validate if they sympathize with the characters. The more direct Anglo books like "teeth are not for biting" are challenging to translate because they issue direct orders and have reactions that are sometimes confusing (like bite a toy not your brother). OK, so I'm overanalyzing the cultural difference, but some would say we (Latins) tend to be more permissive and "baby" children longer. (Bueno, eso es la vida.) Add that to basic differences in Spanish latin and English germanic structures and bingo-translation issues. Highly recommend this and the "Coco y Tula" series which is just in Spanish (castellano) and also more open-ended. I'm no expert. Just a parent. Enjoy this book!

Sweet book.

I enjoyed this book in English & Spanish. This is great for introducing kids to Spanish. There is a pronunciation guide and vocabulary at the back. It very simply introduces kids to different feelings (vocab in Spanish/English). The drawings are nice & clearly illustrate the feeling. A good way to help your child express how they are feeling. Sturdy board book can be read with young children, but will be enjoyed by children through K (and read by them shortly after).

"When I Am" Review

This book was very helpful in learning different emotions. The book was practical and included emotions such as sad, happy, angry, and scared, and provided the spanish translations for each sentance. The pictures were easy to understand and went along with the feelings. It is a great book for children!
