Wave Goodbye at the Corner

The author, Thomas C. Green, was on overload for more than eight decades. Extremely dynamic were his imagination, vision, and wit. Humble Georgia beginnings, a 6th grade education, early life on a tenant cotton farm combined with twenty-five years of demanding mill work only honed his insight providing a wide ranging repertoire of poems and short stories. His creativity, inspiration, and challenging life experiences provided a perpetual source of lively ideas and innumerable imaginings. He had strong leanings toward nature, romance, pride in community and country and an unshakeable eternal religious faith. Humor and family were foremost and became easy subjects for poems and short stories, songs, and tall tales as reflected in the 108 page paperback of original writings. He was quite adept at creating a visual image and distilling complex thought provoking subjects to simple terms. He was a keen observer of all things around him which he readily translated with much impact to articulate, succinct writings. These many remarkable facets combine to create something of a positive perfect storm and rare opportunity culminating in unique writings that will be sure to entertain, stir poignant emotions, and encourage soul searching highlighted by knee slapping down home humor. The book is a very down-to- earth descriptive account of the ups and downs experienced in a small southern town. The poems and short story accounts give the reader a feel for a variety of challenges faced by the author in a simpler time and place when the family unit was strong and people had great pride in hard work, mutual respect for each other, and high moral character. The colorful writing style allows you to feel being part of each situation described. You are pulled into the story line and immediately sympathetic as a result of your own personal experiences. It is truly inspirational and entertaining and well worth reading. What a gift to have these writings available to share.
