If it's meant to be......

The sentence that stuck in my head reading this book was along the lines of "nothing you do or say will ruin a relationship IF IT IS MEANT TO BE and if it is NOT meant to be then no matter how hard you try you cannot make it happen" - So if you are someone who believes that YOU only are the one that can make or break a relationship then you should definately read this book - if anything just so you can find out your are not the only one who has this "problem". I sat stunned when I read this line (which is towards the end of the book) and then re-read the book again straightaway and THEN again a few months later! It also made me realise that as a woman I am equally in fear of a committed relationship as I always thought every man I met was... Yes, it is hard going because she is very descriptive in her writing style but it also makes you slow down and really read the book.. Excellent....

A darkly witty view of women's commitment issues

Gilloly's book is sometimes funny-ha-ha but mostly funny-ouch: She's looking at the difficulties women face in reconciling their assumptions about what they want, with their fear of getting it-- and finding out it's a lot less than promised. Literate, witty, and on-the-money, Gilloly's book deserves to be on the must-read list for professional women, and for the men who hope to love them!
