So stick with K. Aucoin then!

Just because this is a book for makeup professionals (and a good one at that) and doesn't give enough "tips" on how to wear your eyeliner doesn't make it a bad book. I find these less than stellar reviews to be irrelevant.

The Technique

The book makes doing eyebrow shaping look easy...and it not only looks easy- by following a few steps it turns out it IS easy. If you want to learn the basics- buy this book. If you want to do a home makeover- go glamorous, sensual, then fun later on - buy this book. If you want to tune your look a bit- get it! I guess I don't have to go on, but if you are like me and need a bit of instruction and cant afford a makeup artist to be at your beckon call- buy this book.

A very thorough textbook...Highly recommended

This book is recommended in several pro makeup sites [...] and for a good reason. This book is a must-have for all the professional makeup artists. The book talks about all aspects of makeup- from straight beauty makeup, to special effects, appliances and hair techniques (applying moustaches and beards). The appendix itself is worth the price of the book. It talks about what should be in a makeup kit, product recommendations and comparisons, and what to expect when trying to get into a union. I love, love, love this book. I can't say enough good things about it, and have constantly relied on it for accurate information regarding makeup applications. For those who are cosmetic addicts and are only interested in beauty makeup, this book might be a bit too technical though. I would recommend to you the Bobbi Brown Beauty book, and of course, Kevyn Aucoin's works. But for those who are really into all aspects of makeup, this book should be in your library.

One of the Three Best Books for Any Make-Up Artist

Mr.Kehoe presents his work in a pricise format. He covers just about anything you want to know in the art of make-up application, not just the trend in fashion/beauty. All the topics are covered: Lighting, character make-up, age, period, monster, bald caps, lab techniques, special effects, hair and beard laying, just to name a few. This book contains lots of illustrations and photos. Even for the make-up artist who only wants to persue a career in the fashion industry this book is a must read.
