The Surprise of His Life

Lindsey Ellison had a problem. She was in love . . . hopelessly in love . . . with Walker Carr. It would all be so lovely, so idyllic--if only he wasn't her father's business partner and best friend .... This description may be from another edition of this product.

Run, Don't WALK, to Buy This One

Walker feels like a real creep, getting turned on by his best friends' daughter, Lindsey. Little does he know that HE'S the reason she broke off her wedding a few years back. When he stood in for the groom at the rehearsal she realized she was more attracted to Walker than to her husband-to-be, so she bailed. But she's had time to come to grips with her feelings and now knows this is no ordinary case of lust that will go away in time, so Lindsey decides to tempt Walker by being there in the office when he needs help, wearing clothing that's not slutty, but womanly enough that he may come to realize his friends' daughter is no longer shopping in the Winnie the Pooh department at Sears. While she is trying to get Walker to act on their attraction, Lindsey's father is in the middle of a big old mid-life crisis, running around on her mother. Once Walker and Lindsey get together, he realizes that his feelings for her are NOT a mid-life crisis but a true-blue love. Walker's son and his wife have a baby and there are some "awwww" moments there, but that also makes the elder man wonder if he should tie down a young woman with himself when he is not sure he wants any more kids. His wife died years ago and he's never married again, which Lindsey believes shows how capable Walker is to commit and remain true to a love. This is a keeper and emotionally rewarding, not to mention an at-times temperature-raising read. Karen Keast also wrote "One Lavendar Evening" and "Night Spice." Her real name is Sandra Canfield and she also wrote some wonderful books under that name. Check out my other reviews to learn more about those.

Wonderful!!

The love story between Walker Carr and Lindsey Ellison was beautiful and breathtaking. He's a friend of her parents and her godfather. But I did not find any ick-factor to this. (But I am partial to older man/younger woman stories.) I fell in love with him myself. He's very conflicted about his feelings for her, but you know he truly loves her and she him. I read it twice in as many days. Break out a cozy blanket and some hot cocoa and enjoy this on a cold or rainy day.
