This is a tale of a Christian Ukrainian couple who took in Jewish children not only to harbor them, but to make them their own. The small village of Kanev lies on the outskirts of Kiev, Ukraine's capitol, near the banks of the Dnieper River; this is the setting for The Royal Ruby.
