Have you ever felt God was hiding from you? You pray and nothing happens? Even Christians feel like this sometimes, although we know he promised to be with us until the end of the world. So it's not surprising non-Christians can have doubts about God, not sure if he even exists, or if he does, then believing he must be cruel, not really caring about the suffering we see around us. Several popular books written by atheists attack the very basis of Christian beliefs. These books have been promoted and praised in the media. In The Presence Of A Hidden God, the authors build a case that, to the believer, God isn't hidden at all. He has revealed himself in the presence of Jesus Christ. This book is a devastating rebuttal of the atheist argument against the existance of a loving God. The authors give straight answers to tough questions. In my opinion, this book belongs on every Christian's bookshelf.

All about our visible God

The Presence of a Hidden God is the final collaborative work of D. James Kennedy and Jerry Newcombe. The book features documented evidence that defeats the mistaken perception that God is hiding. Psychiatrists, theologians, authors and historians offer proof that just because a blind man doesn't see something doesn't mean it isn't there. Deep in the collective mind-set of the entire human race there exists the awareness of God. The story of the Bible is about three things: generation, degeneration, and regeneration. The authors begin at the beginning. Creator God formed the universe and has maintained order in the physical and spiritual realms for generations. The existence of humanity ushered in the process of degeneration and manifested our need for regeneration. God himself made provision for this process by sending Jesus Christ clothed in flesh to bear the sins of the world and redeem our souls. Even when Jesus walked among us he remained hidden to those who chose not to see him. In conclusion, the authors cite the incident between a six-year-old boy and Muhammad Ali. At the time, Ali was the boxing heavyweight champion of the world. Upon meeting, the boy challenged Ali, "If you are the heavyweight champ of the world, prove it by knocking me down." Ali smirked and laughed to himself as he turned and walked away. The boy's taunting was not worth the champ's time. So it is with God. He has no reason to stoop to our demands that he make himself more visible. Instead, we ought to open our eyes to the reality of a very present, active and visible God. Armchair Interviews says: Very thought-provoking read.
