Passion leads to a fulfilling life

I heard Janet speak in a public forum and the power of her narrative simply blew the audience away. There is a deep conviction in her words and this is apparent in the book as well. Some reviewers cavil at the authors' personal accounts of their travels to India and elsewhere and their accounts of persons they encountered. I found their story engrossing and it helped put the rest of what they said in context. It also helps that the prose is highly readable. Sure what they say is simple and sure you have run across it before. This does not make it any less effective. Sometimes we need to have the same truths blasted into us with a power hose before we internalize it take actions that literally transform our lives. The author's test does involve making a list of ten things that elicit passion in you now and it does involve repeating this every six months and there have been snide comments about this. I have, in various top business schools, used my own version of this process and can testify that it is both powerful and it WORKS. Most of us are so divorced from what makes us come alive that we do not even know what we are passionate about if anything. Janet and Chris give you a process by which you can begin to find out and this does not happen overnight. The book is absolutely crammed with profound insights and the fact that you have run across them before does not diminish the usefulness. You do see the world as you are and not as it is. You can even argue like a famous president about what your definition of "is" is. Your thoughts have shaped you into what you are and what you think now will shape who you become tomorrow. And, yes, the Buddha proclaimed this three thousand years ago and many others have done so since. So what? The authors repeat these timeless truths in their own inimitable fashion, tie it in with their personal narratives and those of others they have met and present it in a highly engaging fashion. The quotes interspersed throughout are fabulous. Eg "There are two great days in a person's life - the day we are born and the day we discover why," "When you follow your bliss..dors will open where you would not have thought there would be doors; and where there wouldn't be a door for anyone else," "The key of all life is value. Value is not what you get - its what you give." If you do the exercise conscientiously, you will start awakening the passion dormant in you. Do it long enough and it will take over your life. I sincerely wish this for you because that is what will lead you to a truly fulfilling life - where your passion is effortlessly used so you can be of service to others. Are You Ready to Succeed? Helpful book!

I think the Passion Test is a helpful tool for those who are really ready to seek out their passion in life. It taps into the heart of the matter--why are we on this Earth? I believe that we are meant to find our passion. It's a nice complement to Pearls of Wellness (Pearls of Wellness 52 Inspirations to Achieve a Peaceful Body, Mind, and Spirit).

Future planning for the Right-Brain dominant

As a highly intuitive, predominantly right-brained thinker, I have always struggled when asked to identify what I want, set some realistic goals and move forward in a systematic fashion. I have no difficulty identifying the big picture but the steps from here to there leave me flummoxed. What a relief to find a book that helped me identify 'markers' for how I will know when I am living my passion sufficiently, rather than asking me to know the steps from here to there. The Passion Test approach resonates strongly with a fundamental trust in the process of life unfolding in and through me. I especially liked their catch phrase "Intention, plus attention, plus no tension" allows miracles to be created. I have found their process for identifying my passions helpful, and the hints to working on them day by day useful as well. I found this book so useful have made it required reading for my Network Team. If you have found other books about your purpose and passion leaving you still grasping for an elusive something, The Passion Test may well be the book you are looking for. Jasmine Sampson [...]

Peel Away the Layers

Exactly what The Passion Test does! As opposed to many other "goal setting" books, this test encourages you to leave your brain and ego behind and open up to your "true" gut and heartfelt passions. It's a new and exciting technique to get to the "center" of all those hidden layers. This book will guide you toward fulfilling your purpose and passion! I read it and am now living it! It's NOT magic or hype...it does require an open mind and heart, but to me it's worth it! I'm making it and the book Understanding: Train of Thought required reading for all of my students.

Delivers Exactly What It Promises---Guidance to the "Effortless" Path to Discover Your Destiny!

***** The Passion Test...as a Life Coach I've been there, done it all...yet, this is great! Fresh, exciting, effective! For those of us into self-improvement and personal growth, The Passion Test is a wonderful, intense tool for achieving maximum transformation at truly minimal cost. The first half of the book is made up of narrative and powerful personal processes that the reader can do to help her/him discover their passions. The second half of the book consists of interviews with famous people (e.g., Dennis Waitley, Stephen Covey, Debbie Ford) who have followed their passions. The second half was fine, but the first part was incredible for me. When I re-discovered my passions, I found it made the rest of my life clearer, and thus far more likely that I will have the kind of life I want. This process is one I will look forward to repeating periodically---semi-annually or so. The price of the book is so small---to deliver these processes in a seminar format would cost hundreds of dollars---and would be worth it! *****
