#2 IN THE FRONTIER SERIES - COLORADO TO SCOTLAND

U.S. Marshal Ben Masters takes his adopted daughter, Sarah Ann to Scotland in search of her father's family. He carries with him the guilt of having used Diablo for his own gain. When had he become withdrawn from others' pain? It is hularious the way Sarah Ann and Annabelle wrap him around their little fingers. On arriving in Glasgow the first accident occures just after having met Andrew Cameron, Earl of Kinloch. Was he a threat to Master's daughter? On the way to the Hamilton estate, Calholm, another accident occured with Lisbeth Hamilton riding the stallion, Shadow, their potential Steeplechase champion, pell-mell down the drive and causing the carriage to tip over. Henry the VIII didn't help matters. Ben was very concerned about Sarah Ann, as Annabelle ran off. Sarah Ann seemed to take to Lisbeth right off. Then we meet the disgruntled Hugh Hamilton, who expected to inherit Calholm, as all other of the male line was dead. Then the widow, Barbara Hamilton who really wanted to stay on the estate. She dearly loved to throw parties. [Never did find out who paid for the ceilidh] Barbara, the beauty, fully expected to seduce and sway Ben into their way of thinking. Sell the horses and raise sheep. Ben knew that he had to see the family solicitor, John Alistair, to put forth Sarah Ann's claim of being Ian Hamilton's daughter. But only her son could inherit the intailed property. Sarah Ann wanted a pony and Callum Trapp, the head trainer, help them to locate one. He also was helping Lisbeth to train Shadow. The attraction between Ben and Lisbeth was a mix-up of hormones and distrust and a lot of "can't keep my hands off you". The number of incidents between these two were a bit much making me want to get back to the meat of the story. It was too much like filler. Other than that the story was good - characters were excellent - inside cover clothing not in keeping with the time period. Not as good Diablo. DEFINITELY RECOMMENDED --M - not too bad a follow-up to Diablo - now to get onto the third book THE SCOTSMAN WORE SPURS - Drew Cameron's story.
