Livin' It and Lovin' It!

This book has changed my life. As a husband with a great deal of emotional pain and pride this book has taught me how to care for my wife's heart and heal her pain. Marriage is about teamwork's and mutual submission. A successful marriage is found through balance and communication. I am in a constant mode of refining myself to be the husband that God and my wife desires. Through this book I have learned these principles and have applied them in our marriage to find lasting change and happiness. Truth that changes lives

Sometimes truth is very hard to receive. This second book by Joel and Kathy, contains truth that many people may reject. It is the truth of self-responsibility and how our actions/thoughts/behaviors as men, so powerfully influence our wives. This book also Biblically outlines the responsibility of men toward their wives. Th truth works and the truth will set you free. The book's stated purpose is restoration of marriage through men becoming more Christ-like. But in my opinion, the book's purpose is to admonish men to be 24/7 followers of Jesus to influence the world. Men and women, whether your marriage is in trouble or not, you need to read this book to achieve an awesome relationship with each other.

Men, Listen up! I'm one of you. Read this book!!!

We, men have been blaming our wives for thousands of years, and, if you subscribe to creationism, then since the first man, Adam, when he said it was her fault, "that woman that You gave me, Lord." Joel and Kathy Davisson put a bulls-eye on the gut of the man where problems in marriage arise. This book elaborates on how we men have been living from the gut (where our appetites reside, and where our lousy intuition operates) for our whole selfish lives, and blame our wives for the lack of harmony and intimacy in our marriages. J & K do a splendid job defining what arrested-development does to keep men focused on their selfish appetites and off of laying down their lives for their wives as Jesus Christ has done for His bride, the Church, and as Paul admonishes men to do in that power-packed 5th chapter of the epistle to the church at Ephesus. Husbands (or better, for those yet to become husbands) read BOTH of Joel and Kathy's books, and swallow the tough medicine they pour out. If you'll initiate in laying down your dreams and desires and live for her's and your family's, you'll find a much deeper relationship with God, your wife, your children, other men, etc. You'll learn how to be real, in real relationships. Thanks, Joel and Kathy for taking concepts that Ken Nair ("Discovering the Mind of a Woman") and few others introduced in the 70's and 80's, and making them real, contemporary, accessible. I wish you had audiences all over the world, like the Weekend to Remember folks, but I realize that most men are too arrogant, fearful, arrested in their emotional/relational development for that to likely ever happen. Readerman, buy and READ both "Man of Her Dreams..." AND "Livin' it and Lovin' It". Yes, you man. Don't wait yet again for your wife to "nag" you to do what you should. For once, focus entirely on ministering to HER heart. That is the greatest calling you have, not some career, not some ministry, not even to father your children. Husbands, love you wife as Christ loved the Church, and gave Himself up ... for her. Readerwoman, if you're fed up with ALL your husband's excuses and having him (and your counselor) twist every problem to your blame, then tell your husband to take a few days off, go stay in a cheap motel and read Both of these books or you'll change the locks on the house when he's at work. This material works!

I can say that after 18 years of a horrible marriage, applying the principles spelled out in this book, worked for us! Though it may be hard for some men to swallow especially if they are rooted in a religious mind set, these truths deal with the true roots of marriage problems. Thankfully I am hearing this same message in bits and pieces being preached by a variety of ministers world wide, but Joel and Kathy have clearly spelled it all out in their books. You can't go wrong with these books even if you think you have a pretty good marriage!

I lost a LOT of sleep over this book...

This book kept me up into the wee hours of the morning a couple of nights in a row. It's just that good. Joel and Kathy's first book, The Man of Her Dreams, The Woman of His, hits the nail square on the head the reasons why a marriage fails and what you can do about it. This sequel delves into those topics (and more) so deeply that you can't help be a changed person after reading them. After reading this book, I looked at the marriages around me, both successful and not, and every unsuccessful or unhappy marriage are for reasons laid out in the book. EVERY single one! It's absolutely amazing how frighteningly accurate this book is. Men, I urge you to read this book so that you can better understand why your wife acts the way she does and what YOU can do to improve the situation. You will find that it's not difficult to be the man your wife needs, and when your wife's happy, everyone's happy! Women, I urge you to read this book so you can understand why your men act the way they do and so you can learn to communicate to your husband what your needs are. You will teach them to become man of your dreams. It is possible, ladies! Your men can become that irresistible studmuffin you want him to be!! The amount of information in these books is of immeasurable worth. These books are an investment in you, your marriage and the marriage of those around you. Do yourself a favor and read these books. They are wonderful, absolutely wonderful and I truely believe that everyone should read these books.
