An excellent resource for elementary school courses in early American history
Published by Thriftbooks.com User , 15 years ago
The seminal event in the creation of the United States of America was the adopting of the Declaration of Independence, an extremely radical document for the time. It clearly stated that there was no divine right of royalty to govern and it established certain rights that not even a sovereign could deny. It was a rallying cry for the colonists to band together against what they considered tyranny and some of the passages have been used by many "freedom fighters" in the centuries since it was written. This book gives the essentials of this magnificent document as well as the proper historical context. The language and style is appropriate for the elementary school student and the images are of excellent quality. It is an excellent resource for courses in early American history.
