comfort food at it's best!

We have eaten at the Comfort Diner several times on our trips to NYC. This book has the best of the menu choices. I love the cookbook!

Comfort Food at its Best

If you aren't able to get to New York City to try some of Ira Freehof's tasty comfort food in person, The Comfort Diner cookbook is the second best thing to that round trip ticket (and a fraction of the cost). These are classic comfort food recipes, updated with fresh, wholesome ingredients. There are recipes for beginner cooks and gourmet chefs alike, each of them easy-to-read and foolproof. My 11-year-old daughter loves to make the Blueberry Muffins (her brothers love to eat them). I am an experienced cook who has tried the Chicken Pot Pie and Red Flannel Hash, adding a few touches of my own. Whether you aren't used to spending much time in the kitchen, or you're the next Top Chef contestant, there is something inspirational and tasty in this cookbook for you. Bon Appetit! steph. Yummy!

I bought this cookbook specifically for the peanut butter cookie recipe, which is fabulous! The blueberry muffins are great too. Honestly, those are the only two recipes I've tried but they are both great.

Offers meals from breakfast to dinner but excels in lunch

Author Ira Freehof is also owner of New York's Comfort Diner, which takes American classic 'comfort food' and elevates it to restaurant standards. From a classic Reuben Sandwich with Sauerkraut and Thousand Island Dressing, to a Yankee Pot Roast, and a Crab Burger, The Comfort Diner Cookbook offers meals from breakfast to dinner but excels in lunch.

Quintessential comfort food cookbook

Fabulous in every way, this cookbook has recipes that are far and above the typical. This is for people who appreciate the best. Also, Ira has stories and notes with his recipes that make the book a delight to read. Expect there to be no conversation after the first bites, unless you consider "wow" and "mmmmmmmm" conversation. I guarantee when talk resumes, the first sentence will be, "this is the best ---- I've ever eaten". If you love food, and appreciate comfort food, this is a book you must have.
