The Anglican Communion as koinonia

In these times of great struggle within the Anglican Communion, Mark Harris, an Episcopal priest, thoughtfully presents his understanding of the Communion's past history, it's struggle to understand itself as a fellowship (koinonia) instead of as an institutional church, and the potentialities inherent in its living out the message of the incarnation of God in Jesus Christ. What is it exactly that binds Anglicans together? In the quest to continue the life of the Anglican Communion, will the imposition of doctrine actually break bonds of affection between members of the Anglican Communion? If indeed the Anglican Communion is a communion based primarily upon the incarnation, what does this mean for the mutuality and fellowship of the communion members? Harris' book moves in a very logical way from an introduction and chapters exploring Anglican identity to the significance of the incarnation and its primacy in Anglican involvement--as compassion--within the world. Finally, looking at his main points of argument and persuasion, Harris presents a "vocational manifesto" for the Anglican Communion. He has also added an excellent bibliography. This well-researched work by a thoughtful and visionary author is a great addition to the ongoing discussions within the Anglican Communion.
