I never received this....im still waiting....

I ordered this book but it hasnt come....im still waiting.

Wonderful book for a new cook.

This book has many recipes that are not too difficult for a beginner to moderate cook. I bought it as a gift for a person just setting up housekeeping. I think it will help her break the habit of eating out instead of trying to make something at home. This is a very large cookbook.

A great piece of Americana

I paid full price for this book 30 years ago when I was a new bride. I was a good cook before I bought it. I was a better cook after using it on numerous recipes. I used it until the pages were falling from the binder, splattered with batters and sauces etc. There are still many recipes from this book of tried and true American favorites and a few with some extra twist I've yet to make. This is a great book for those who don't want recipes that are not Cordon Bleu or Culinary Institute level. All aspects of cooking and baking are sited. Meat, breads, vegetables and deserts. This was the go to guide long before the Joy of Cooking.

Every kitchen should have this book.

In particular, my family and guests really enjoy the Raised Waffles for breakfast. Oh, they make my tummy smile.

Perfect baking cookbook

Every recipe I have made from this book (over 30) has worked perfectly. The directions are impeccable. I've made cakes, cookies, pies, quick breads, yeast breads, frostings and sauces from this book. Each one has worked every time. The hot fudge sauce is spectacular as are the gingersnap cookies. When I bought this book several years ago, I knew how to make chocolate chip cookies; I was not an experienced baker. I followed Ms. Cunningham's master recipes to learn how to bake, and now I have a reputation as a great baker. You can't go wrong baking with Marion Cunningham as your guide.

Tried and true

While this book isn't fancy -- no full color, magazine-quality pictures of finished goods here -- it is as close to no-fail as you can get. These recipes stand the test of time. You cannot lose by using this book often! Anyone who knows anything about baking would love to have this gem as a gift.

For Basic Cooking, This is "The Kitchen Necessity".

I'm 25 and my mother has had her 11th Edition Fanny Farmer Cookbook since before I was born. The pages are falling out and the covers are taped to the binding. Holiday after holiday, this is the only cookbook my mother refers to and my mother is famous for her good cooking. Some say the recipes in here are bland. Listen, if you want to learn how to really cook as though you've been cooking all your life, this is the only cookbook that will teach you! There are basic recipes for poultry, meats, breads, deserts, all from scratch. The recipes are all simple, easy, and delicious. The best part is, once you've learned those basics, it's no time before you start adding your own flavor to make your own recipes. It's perfect for those who can't cook and for those who can because you always need the basics. I just brought one for me and one for my mom. Now I finally have my own Fannie Farmer Cookbook and my mother can finally retire her old one.

Superb Reference

I am a professional chef, and I have worn out my first copy of the book, which I bought years ago-It has recipes for almost anything you ever wanted to bake, as well as interesting historical background. It also has clear, informative information on techniques which allows for flexibility in altering recipes to suit your needs . Truly a bakers 'Bible'
