A "MUST HAVE" if you are a Beginning Gold Investor

I cannot recommend this book enough if you are planning on investing in gold. It is perfect for a Beginner. This book is well written, organized with a wealth of information, and very easy to read. Mr Kosares, who has over 30 years experience in investing gold, gives very good reasons why you may want to invest 10-30% of your portfolio in gold, what form of gold to buy, what to look for as you find a gold firm to purchase from, how to try and prevent the US government from confiscating gold from you as FDR did in 1933, objectively compares gold vs. silver investment, what has to be reported to the IRS, how gold is a winner during inflationary and deflationary times, etc etc. There is a lot to know about gold investment, and this book is a very good road map to investing in gold successfully. I highly recommend this book.

A Must Read If You are Considering Gold....

Kosares wrote an easy to read book that you should have in your library if you own gold or are considering gold as an investment. All the basic "how to buy" information is here plus much more. For example, The chapter titled "G is For Government Debt" is a real eye opener if you want to know how the U.S. dollar got into the mess it is in today. Reading this chapter alone should give you reasons to invest in hard assets as opposed to currency based investments. Kosares is not new to the gold market. He has been writing about gold and educating consumers about this precious metal for many years. In fact, this is the second edition of his book and it appears to have been substantially updated. Bottom line - read "The ABC's" of Gold Investing" and then read it again. There is much wisdom between the covers of this book.

Good "all -around" information

Not being a "savy" gold investor, I wanted to find a book that would provide a good understanding of all the issues surrounding gold investments both for profitability and asset protection. This book is definitely worth the read. It is very informative in covering the history of gold and how it responds with inflation and deflation, explaining different investor objectives, and providing a great overall summary of how to go about investing in gold. This book has provided me the basic knowledge to begin my gold investing. Good book to have in your library.

Great primer for those interested in gold as an investment

Michael has written an excellent book for people who want to understand gold, its importance as an investment vehicle and how to invest. The book does a good job at convincing you so dont get carried away and start buying gold. Like any other investment gold has its pros and cons. Do more research and reading before you spend your hard earned money. Look at some websites like kitco and gold-eagle.

An eye opening trip through the history and function of gold

As a man of only thirty-nine years, ABC's has given me enlightenment not obtainable in the public schools, or in the mainstream press. Since the elimination of gold as "lawful money" occurred before my lifetime, I would have been otherwise unaware of how it's removal from our monetary system has eroded the wealth of the common man, and disempowered every U.S. citizen. Good reading for anyone concerned that the "Asian Contagion" could eventually wash ashore here. You will never view the green paper in your pocket in the same light.
