I believe this book is appropriate enough if you want to know about the basics of the People's Temple, Rev. Jim Jones, and Jonestown on November 18, 1978. There are incredible pictures that speak to you in black and white. I believe this book was published a couple of years after it happened. So there are things missing in this book or key figures like Terri Buford and Deborah Layton Blakey, two prominent defectors, who were at the top of the ranks at Jonestown. The book is an easy read and can be done in one setting. It's not for the weak or faint at heart. Of course, there are other books out there but this one stands out because of the graphic imagery including Jones' body after death. There were plenty of other stuff left out like Jones' son, Stephan, and his adopted brother, Jim, were at a basketball tournament in Georgetown when the nightmare in Jonestown occurred. The author doesn't go into too much information and I have read plenty about Jonestown by now. Like I wrote, the pictures speak volumes and this book was published before technological age where instant messaging and fact checking can be done quickly. The author presents a good account but not an excellent but still well-written and sticks to facts rather than rumors.
