The midsummer solstice is a day celebrated around the world, with families and communities gathering to celebrate the longest day of the year. There is singing, dancing, picnics, flower picking, and midsummer pole raising. So what could go wrong on such a splendid day (apart from storms)? Apparently, according to the poets in this issue, quite a lot. A Midsummer's Day Nightmare leans heavily toward the horror end of the speculative spectrum, but there is still a little of Shakespeare's whimsy to be found, even if it's tainted with tragedy.
