Style for the Average Joe

A lot of very good decorating tips for different tastes and budgets. Because not everyone can afford to shop at pricey boutiques or high-end department stores, this book offers an affordable alternative. There's plenty here for anyone who wants to make a high style statement without breaking the bank. Given our present economy, this book helps to do just that. It gives decorating help and hope for "the Average Joe."

Really, truly HELPFUL!

OK, so you're not particularly financially or artistically gifted. Well, here are 190 pages, plus an index, plus 160 lush, lovely photographs that will help transform your living room, dining room and bedroom. With the help of Better Homes & Gardens Style by the Aisle you can create one-of-a-kind looks with this complete guide to colors, patterns, textures and more. There are 15 "looks" to create, such as Utility Chic, Bollywood, Sweedish Lite, Bohemian, Salon Style, Greenhouse, etc. These are all good, all do-able for real person shopping in a real world with real finances! Here's your chance to look like you've hired a decorator! I love this book!

Great for Beginning

I really liked this book as it was helpful to find out what I did and did not like. The pictures and descriptions were helpful in picking design elements that fit my personality. Great for someone who is just beginning to explore design.

Unique concept, well done!

Nice theme - take readers through the standard sections of the average department store, whether it be modest to moderately priced (Target) or higher end (Barneys). Then show them how to adapt the standard lamps, sofas, etc...to the rooms of their choice, creating a unique style and vision. A great starting point for those who aren't sure of their decorating expertise!

Lots of Ideas

I like this book because it has all different styles briefly shown in this book. They also give color schemes to creating that particular style. This book is full of bright colors and good ideas but it should not be thought of as a how to guide. I would recomend this book if you don't know what your style is or if you want a variety of different styles.
