An excellent resource for anyone involved with children

This book is ideal for anyone with an interest in the aspects of child sexual abuse; signs, symptoms - direct and indirect, degrees of trauma, treatment, counseling. It would be valuable for anyone with contact with children. It is written without bias, simply a statement of findings and facts much like a text book. It may also be of value to victims as it's narrative trawls in deep waters in which many readers may identify aspects of themselves and their lives. I highly recommend it. A+

well-written book

I have read many books on the subject of sexual abuse and found that I really liked the style in which this book was written. I felt the author had a good understanding of the subject manner and for being of the male gender explained the subject well. I liked the case histories that supported the subject matter. I would highly recommend the book to others.

Promising Tomorrows

Stolen Tomorrows was written in a most masterfully fluent way by Steven Levenkron. It is immediately gripping without sensationalizing or dehumanizing the victims of such destructive sexual abuse. It offered me a very clear understanding of each particular kind of sexual abuse and how all of these varying factors directly correlate to the future personalities and self-destructive behaviors exhibited by each victim. The detailed breakdown of the clear effects that sexual abuse has on women is undeniable and should cause us all, victim of sexual abuse or not, to be aware of its extensive prevalence. Ultimately, however, this is a book that offers hope. By allowing us to bear witness to each woman's pain and journey of recovery, we becom keenly aware that real help is available and recovery is possible.

Learned a lot...

I started looking at this book in a book store because someone I'm friends with was abused. I thought it would have a lot of jargon but right away I found myself reading it easily so I bought the book. Some of the book is upsetting because sexual abuse is upsetting to think about but seeing that the survivors can get help and lead healthy lives is encouraging. I feel like I learned so much from this book and because it was broken down into different people's stories, I found that I was flying through the pages.

A Compelling Read

I found this book to be very insightful about sexual abuse--its effects and what can be done to help sexual abuse survivors. It is a great tool for therapists but I think would also be very helpful for those who are survivors of sexual abuse or who are seeking to understanding its effects. The book is sensitively written and the case scenarios make it very interesting and readable. I would definitely recommend it to those looking to deepen their understanding of this important issue.
