Social stigmatisation: a factor influencing labour market insertion

"If I were a criminal, I would come with a gun and point it at his head and rob him of everything he has, but no, I am asking him for a bit of his time so that he will listen to me and give me a chance to work, not to steal, I come to work, not to steal". This book deals with the issue of Social Stigmatisation as a conditioning factor in the labour insertion of the youth population specifically. The problem of unemployment and precarious employment among young people is manifested in the international and national framework, which is why a historical overview is made in order to understand how the process of stigmatisation of young people belonging to vulnerable and marginalised social sectors developed. This view of the "other" is questioned by analysing the role of music (Cumbia villera) and the media. Based on interviews with institutional representatives and young people from the M ximo Abasolo neighbourhood, we were able to analyse different categories and problems that are part of their daily lives: identity, child labour, discrimination, stereotypes, among others. I encourage you to listen to the voice of each young person, unique and different from any other.
