What is the actual position of the Quran on mandatory veiling, child marriage, honor killings, stoning, and homosexuality? The results of this research might surprise you Although, the name of the so-called Sharia law pops up everywhere in social media, however, the existence of Sharia law in the Muslim world has nothing do with Islam. The British Colonial powers introduced the Sharia law to their Muslim subjects in the Indian Subcontinent and later in the lands of the Ottoman Empire under their rule.However, as I will try to prove in the following chapters, the Sharia law introduced by the British followed the Jewish Bible and not the Quran. The western colonial powers and even some Muslim jurists who were educated in the seminaries under the British control assumed parallels between Islam and Judeo-Christian religions. And instead of the Quran, they based the Sharia law on ten commandments.
