I really enjoyed this book

Beautiful New York heiress Felicity Wentworth is a spoiled beauty where visiting friends and attending balls is all that has mattered to her, until on a whim to make her father and Jebediah, both abolitionists love her, she decides to take on a journey from her easy life in New York to the war torn south to rescue the three children of a black woman, named Esther. She left on her mission more for herself than from any real feelings for Esther, her children or the cause, it was just so she would come back with the children looking good for her father and Jebediah. But while in the South she meets Devon and finds the children, Lucy, Sissy and Ezra. She finds a courage, strength and tenacity that she didn't know she had. And she starts to see what is really happening in the south beyond what her zealot father and Jebediah could ever possibly know safe home in New York. She slowly starts to grow up and see beyond her own wants and needs. I enjoyed this book, it is light reading but I enjoyed it anyway. And I liked all the characters. Devon was an excellent hero type and I thought Devon and Felicity were good together.
