Rocky and Sandy was my childhood favorite!

I happened upon Rocky and Sandy when I was about seven or so and my school's library had a little book giveaway to get rid of some of their unwanted inventory. While it's been years since I've had the book, I remember that it tells a simple story of two tortoises that find each other, as the name suggests, in the California desert. The story is accompanied with these lovely Nationial Geographic-esque photographs, and I remember flipping through pages quite often as a child. It fostered in me a love for tortoises, turtles, and terrapins so profound that there isn't a road in the whole of the U.S. of A that I won't stop on when it comes to a little lost terrapin trying to get to the other side. Please, get this for your children. Get it for yourself.
