Makes an important contribution to non-fiction Chirstian literature

The Christian market is flooded with marriage books for couples, as well as books targeting women and men about being good wives and husbands, respectively. However this book, written by a woman and for women, is much deeper examination of men's sexuality and how women can live, respond and relate in helpful ways to them in light of this understanding. I believe women from a conservative Christian background are often under-informed about the sexually-charged environment their husbands and sons navigate, and the effect this environment has on their men, as well as how they as wives can support them in this task. This book goes a long way toward enlightening such women. I also found this book had some unusual and helpful passages for women in abusive situations, pointing out the wisdom and necessity of healthy boundary setting. I recommend this book to Christian women who like to read deeper, more demanding books. It is not light reading and the casual reader will never make it through, but the persistant reader will be rewarded with significant insights and ideas, though she might not agree with every point in this book. The only frustration I had in my reading is that several times the author writes lengthy treatises on how men can flee from temptation or respond in certain situations. Much of these sections were not helpful to me, but simply left me feeling, "I wish my son/husband would read this." I found it difficult to stick with the book in these places to make it through to the parts of such sections that were helpful. A little tighter editing would have made it more readable. Nevertheless, I find this book an important one. I work for a Christian agency and plan to recommend this book to the many wives and mothers with whom I work.

Great reading! Instructive, insightful, and very "real"... far more to the point than "For Women Only" or most other books in the genre. A great gift for any Christian woman.

I'm a female who loved this book...

I loved this book. I'm a woman who just got married later in life for the first time...I'm 42. My mother has passed away and I have NO ONE to talk to about several of these issues. The Bible does instruct the older women to educate the younger ones. I feel that I've missed out on a lot of that - this book helps give me an understanding that I didn't have before. I so appreciated her guidelines. In our society where we have no guidelines, this book helps give us some. Of course she paints men with a broad brush and I totally get that not all men are like that. But it does give me tools in my toolbox to help understand my new husband. And to the men who don't like this book - this book isn't for you anyway! This is a great book for WOMEN who need basic understanding in the area of men's sexuality, pornography and the marriage relationship.

so needed for wives who care

I can't wait to read this book! It's so relevant, I let my mom swipe it away to share with someone she knows whose daughter's husband is dealing with pornography issues. I knew from scanning pages in the book pre-purchase, online, that it was just the book I was looking for. A lot of books deal with sympathizing with the woman's hurt over her husband's sexual sin, but this is the first one I've encountered that actually gives proactive clues as to 'okay, now what do we do with this?' 'How can I spur my husband on to godliness?'

Helpful Read!

I have read countless books on men, by just as many authors. Some I have found to give great insight, others have left me dry, but this book sparked an interest from page one. Our author, Mary Farrar takes us on a journey into the very heart of men, a sacred place that few have had the privilege to travel. Our men may be in trouble and need woman to understand their inward spirit and what they are so desperately seeking from us, but not finding it, turn to places such as pornography where they did not need to go. This book is frank and honest and covers a myriad of topics. Ms. Farrar takes us into the very deepest part of our men's being. She talks of love and sex, why men are turned on by sight and what we can and should do about it. She speaks of the enemy, adultery, and what can be done to ward this off. We read stories and hear men talk from their hearts to ours, and all of this is blended in with the importance of God being in the mix. Understand, this book is not 'preachy,' but truthful and a real eye opener. It is always so easy to pass the blame, point the finger, and make ourselves less guilty of the way things are. In this book the truth is put before you and you yourself must make a decision what you are going to do about it. Are the men in your life really important to you? Do you want a better relationship and life with them? "Reading Your Male," is a frank, honest book that will take you down a road you probably have never traveled before, although you have longed to reach the blessed destination it will take you to. This work will give you insights you never imagined on the subject of men, and will answer questions you never even knew you had. Ms. Farrar's biblical truths and advice will definitely help you live a more loving and fulfilled life with the man of your heart, and the males in your life. All that can come out of this book is victory, and that's a good thing. Very well done, a work I gladly recommend.
